Find your bearings in maths, science & writing

Patient one-to-one sessions that turn a confusing topic into a clear route forward — built around how your student thinks, not a one-size syllabus.

Subjects

Four territories, charted carefully

Each subject is taught from the ground up: we find the exact point where understanding slipped, then rebuild confidence step by step.

Maths

From fractions and algebra through to calculus, with a focus on reasoning rather than memorised tricks.

  • Algebra & functions
  • Geometry & trigonometry
  • Statistics & problem solving

Physics

Forces, energy and waves explained with sketches, everyday examples and plenty of worked questions.

  • Mechanics & motion
  • Electricity & circuits
  • Waves & practical skills

Chemistry

Making sense of atoms, reactions and calculations so the equations stop feeling like a foreign language.

  • Bonding & structure
  • Moles & calculations
  • Organic chemistry

Essay writing

Planning, arguing and editing, so ideas land clearly in coursework, English and humanities answers.

  • Structuring an argument
  • Using evidence well
  • Timed exam responses
How it works

The route, from first chat to steady progress

No long contracts or surprises. Families always know what the next session is for and how things are going.

  1. Map

A relaxed first conversation with the student and a parent to understand goals, worries and school requirements.

  2. Plot

A short, friendly diagnostic session reveals strengths and gaps, followed by a written plan for the coming weeks.

  3. Travel

Regular sessions mix explanation, guided practice and independent questions, adjusted as confidence grows.

  4. Check in

Brief progress notes after each block of sessions, so parents can see what has been covered and what comes next.

About the tutor

Calm guidance for anxious learners and ambitious ones

Drift Atlas began with a simple idea: most students are not “bad at” a subject, they are simply lost at one particular turning. Sessions slow down to find that turning, then build a clear path from there.

Every lesson is prepared around the student’s own exam board, homework and pace, with space for questions they might not ask in a full classroom.

  • PatientMistakes are treated as useful clues, never as failures.
  • StructuredEach session has one clear aim and ends with a short recap.
  • HonestParents get straightforward updates on effort and progress.

Choose the pace that fits the term

All formats are one-to-one and available online or in the student’s home, depending on availability.

  • Follow-up practice set
  • Book when needed

Weekly · one term

Term route

A consistent weekly slot with a written plan, the best option for rebuilding confidence over time.

6 – 8 sessions

Rates depend on level and frequency and are shared clearly after the first conversation — there is no obligation to book.

Questions

Before you get in touch

Can’t see your question here? Add it to the enquiry form and it will be answered in the first reply.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions run over video with a shared digital whiteboard, so working can be written out together in real time. A laptop or tablet with a camera is all that is needed.

What happens in the first session?

A gentle diagnostic: a few questions at different levels, a chat about how school lessons feel, and a short plan summarising where to begin.

Can parents sit in?

Yes, especially for younger students or the first session. Many families find students open up more once they settle, so we agree what works best together.

Do you provide materials?

Practice questions, summary sheets and past-paper suggestions are provided, matched to the student’s exam board and current school topics.

What if we need to cancel?

Life happens. Sessions can be moved with reasonable notice, and the full rescheduling policy is shared in writing before any booking.
